What is the Difference between supported living and a residential home?

In residential care you are a resident in the care home, there is a more standardised level of care. You would have little involvement with choice about your support.  This type of care may affect your benefits and the amount of disposable income you will receive.

In supported living you would have a tenancy agreement where you would have more control and involvement with the tenancy and choice of where you live. You would have more involvement, for example, who you would like to live with, choice about your support staff and the times they support you. Residing in supported living your benefits would continue with no restrictions of where you live this may give you a more disposable Income.

Choosing supported living or a residential home is a personal choice and it depends on what you are looking for, your needs, wishes and goals.
