Learning Disability

A learning disability is when an individual has a reduced ability to understand information. Individuals with a learning disability can also find it difficult to communicate and can affect their independence.
Statistics suggest that around 1.5m people have a learning disability.

People with learning disabilities can have difficulty with everyday tasks such as household chores, managing budget and even socialising. Here at New World Supports, we can support you to achieve these tasks and more. Whatever you’re doing, whether at home, going out, finding education or employment, we’re committed to providing exceptional care and support for you.

We’ll work with you and your support network to create your support plan and involve you in choosing your keyworker, providing you with a staff who understands you. We provide specific learning disability training for our staff to ensure our care and support meets your needs.

Above all, we have a great understanding of the obstacles and challenges individuals may encounter with having a mental illness and therefore we provide an effective service to improve independence and general quality of life.

    Physical Disability

New World Supports believes everyone, no matter what their ability, has the right to become a full and active member of their community. Those individuals are recognised as equal and can enjoy the same life opportunities, chances and rights as their non-disabled peers and neighbours. To achieve this we support and empower individuals to overcome personal barriers, such as lack of confidence and low self esteem, develop independence, enjoy a more varied social life, broaden educational opportunities and access to employment & volunteering opportunities. We deliver this support in a dignified and sensitive manner which not only capitalises on the individuals current capabilities but promotes further development and skills to improve their overall quality of life.

    Drug and Alcohol Misuse

We understand that individuals from all walks of life can become victims of drug and alcohol abuse. Our non-judgemental approach to support is to provide individuals with knowledge and management skills to counter addiction. To ensure we provide the best possible services for people, we work closely with health & social care authorities and voluntary organisations.

Our accommodation, support and care services support people to make positive changes to their lives. Our highly trained staff are dedicated to making a difference to individuals regardless of whatever circumstance they may be in due to the use of drugs and alcohol. We believe that with support, individuals have the ability to change their lives in a positive way and reach their goals and aspirations.

    Respite Breaks

Respite breaks can be planned or unplanned, in cases of an emergency due to an illness or hospital admission. We understand how difficult it can be to look after a relative or friend. It can be tiring both physically and mentally and having a break might be good for both of your health and well-being. Respite care gives carers an opportunity to take a holiday or simply spend some time looking after their own needs away from their day to day routine. It also gives your loved one the opportunity to socially interact with another friendly face.

Stay in the comfort of your own home

Whilst respite care is readily available in residential homes, care at a supported living is less disruptive and your loved one can stay in the comfort of a family oriented environment.

As an experienced provider New World Supports respite services allows you to have the confidence that your loved one is being cared for by well trained, caring staff fully committed to making the respite a positive experience.

Whatever the circumstances New World Supports can help provide the respite care for as long as needed, which can be from a few hours per week to 24 hour round the clock care.
